Finance & Administration Assistant

The First Nations Forestry Council (FNFC) is a non-profit society that seeks to support and advocate for the role BC First Nations should play as the rightful owners of forest land and resources including access to an equitable share of the benefits derived from forestry activities within their traditional territories. The Council also supports First Nations in advancing their role as stewards of the land to protect the environmental, economic, social and cultural values of forests and lands and resources as well as assisting and advocating for First Nations in their efforts to increase access, opportunities and support for participation in the forest sector economy.

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Finance, the FNFC is seeking a Finance and Administration Assistant, who is responsible for providing pro-active, accurate accounting and administrative support. This full-time position requires a confident individual with solid experience in bookkeeping, financial systems and general office procedures. The successful candidate is a service focused self-starter, who is comfortable being accountable for administrative processes and operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment that plays an important role in FNFC’s continued success and impact. This position is based out of FNFC’s Nanaimo location.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and job experience. Experience working with Sage and/or Adagio accounting software is preferred, combined with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take initiative and maintain accurate timely work output as well as maintain a high level of integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentially. Must be available to work 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm).
