Provincial Forum Meetings Postponed
BC First Nations Forestry Council recently completed seven (7) regional engagement workshops with the Province to gather input from our Nations toward the development of a revised BC First Nations Forest Strategy.
Upon completion of the Engagement Summary Report of these meetings, the Forestry Council and BC have concluded that it is necessary to postpone the provincial forums until such time as the Province is able to commit the resources needed to implement a revised BC First Nations Forest Strategy that recognizes First Nations as governments and full partners in the forest sector.
We all agree that increased revenue sharing and tenure allocation for our communities are critical to moving forward with the strategy.
Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause on such short notice. Please contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
First Nations-Only Workshops Scheduled for October/November 2018
We are now scheduling First Nations-only Workshops to be held in October/November 2018, after the upcoming First Nations leadership meetings. These meetings will allow us to gather, review and discuss the findings of the 2018 Engagement Sessions Summary Report and how to best apply them toward the revised BC First Nations Forest Strategy.
