WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MANAGER

The First Nations Forestry Council (FNFC) is a non-profit society that seeks to support and advocate for the role BC First Nations should play as the rightful owners of forest land and resources including access to an equitable share of the benefits derived from forestry activities within their traditional territories. The Council also supports First Nations in advancing their role as stewards of the land to protect the environmental, economic, social and cultural values of forests and lands and resources as well as assisting and advocating for First Nations in their efforts to increase access, opportunities and support for participation in the forest sector economy.


Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the FNFC is seeking a Workforce Development Program Manager who is responsible for providing support and leadership to FNFC project and program initiatives to advance the implementation of the BC First Nations Forestry Workforce Strategy. The Workforce Development Program Manager liaises closely with a broad range of stakeholders, including government, First Nations, partner organizations, forest industry representatives and associations, and others to develop partnerships, leverage and source funding, and aid in the design of specific projects and programs related to the implementation of the Workforce Strategy. This position is based out of FNFC’s Nanaimo location.

and reporting is required, combined with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take initiative, work well within a team as well as maintain a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and work output. Knowledge of forestry-related government programs is required as well as a willingness to travel, including overnight stays, throughout BC.
