Our Programs
The Forestry Council is committed to being a central resource where First Nations individuals, businesses, and governments can access the information, tools, resources, opportunities, and support they need to achieve their goals within the forest sector. Our services are organized into three core areas: Workforce, Business and Forest Governance. These areas are then supported by Engagement & Communications, a fourth service area which serves to amplify and enhance our efforts in each core area.

FOREST GOVERNANCE
We empower First Nations to enhance the economic wealth and well-being of their communities through sustainable forest management, ensuring healthy forests for future generations.
We support shared governance and revenue sharing, helping Nations shape policies and make joint decisions within the regulatory framework. By expanding tenure opportunities, we enable First Nations to manage their forest lands.
Through stewardship and land use planning, we integrate Indigenous and provincial knowledge to ensure sustainable resource management for future generations.
WORKFORCE
We help First Nations individuals explore and grow careers in forestry through recruitment, training, and industry partnerships. Our Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program offers funding, mentorship, and career support for post-secondary students.
We connect talent with opportunities via info sessions, online tools, and the ForestryConnect portal. By collaborating with industry, we enhance career retention, advancement, and workplace wellness through dedicated resources and support.

BUSINESS
We help First Nations access and navigate forestry business opportunities through BusinessConnect, connecting communities with sector opportunities, partners, and funders. We support planning and sustainable practices and provide resources for non-First Nations businesses to engage with First Nations respectfully.
To foster success, we seek First Nations’ insights and stories to inspire and support others. Through tools, training, best practices, templates, and market data, we strengthen Indigenous business growth and long-term sustainability.
ENGAGEMENT & STORYTELLING
We actively engage First Nations by providing the information, tools, and support needed to achieve their goals. Through engagement, we foster collaboration by hosting events and creating spaces for dialogue with forest sector stakeholders. As trusted advisors, we strengthen capacity through community outreach, knowledge-sharing, and relationship-building.
