JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Workforce Skills Development Manager, the Workforce Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing educational and career opportunities for Indigenous people in the forestry sector. This position promotes and facilitates the Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program for the First Nations Forestry Council, handling tasks such as reviewing and processing scholarship applications, coordinating placements with industry partners, and fostering relationships with donors, partners, and students. Among the responsibilities of the role are:
Coordination: Oversee student placements with forestry companies, regularly updating the Manager on program progress and possible improvements. This role supports the development and implementation of the Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program (IFSP).
Engagement: The role responds to inquiries from prospective students to provide information and resources. The coordinator represents the Forestry Council at events and meetings and liaises between students, staff, and industry partners. The coordinator will drive the Workforce van to events within BC as needed.
Administration: Support students through the scholarship application process, verifying documents meet program requirements. Facilitate communication between recipients, forestry companies, and ISETS partners; the coordinator maintains records, coordinates payments, and resolves any issues. Additionally, the coordinator will collect and prepare program statistics and reports to support efficient operations and policy adherence.
