JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Policy Program Manager, the Policy Coordinator will assist in supporting the development, analysis, communication and information sharing of policies, regulations and legislation related to forestry practices impacting First Nations communities. You will also play a key role in supporting Forest Landscape Planning and other collaborative initiatives with the provincial Ministry of Forests. Among the responsibilities of the role are: 

Policy Development and Reform: Conduct research on forest policies, amendments to forest legislation, issues related to land management and environmental regulations to support the development of informed policy recommendations. Assist in analyzing proposed policies and legislation to assess their potential impact on First Nations communities, forestry practices, and environmental conservation.

Communications: Write detailed reports, policy briefs, meeting summaries, conference proceedings, newsletter and website content, and other policy-related material to support the work of the policy team. 

Administration: Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, organizing events, booking travel, maintaining records, and managing correspondence related to policy initiatives. Assist in coordinating consultations, workshops, and engagement sessions with First Nations communities, ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making processes.
