Silviculture and Wildfire Resilience: Insights from Líl’wat Nation
In early October, our Forestry Council team and strategic advisor, Klay Tindall, took part in the Southern Interior Silviculture Committee’s fall field tour with the Líl’wat Nation near Mount Currie. The tour showcased silviculture practices aimed at minimizing wildfire risk while honouring First Nations cultural uses and traditions. We were able to review sites where these practices are actively implemented and also examine the results of 2015 silviculture prescriptions, providing valuable insights for today’s strategies. We thank Líl’wat Forestry Ventures for their hospitality and the chance to learn firsthand from their work.
